Working with Baby Give Back, Robina Kids Op Shop and Pack n Send Tweed Heads, we were able to distribute portacots to macropod carers across Australia. These portacots no longer meet Australian safety standards for human babies and would otherwise be sent to landfill. Thank you Val Rose for sending these beautiful pictures of Wilbur enjoying his new cot.

We are DELIGHTED to report that 12 early childhood centres participated in our 'Bilbies Not Bunnies’ Easter Fundraiser. this project raised over $1400 for Save the Bilby Fund!
Children loved to learn about this precious native animal and had so many questions about where they live and what they like to eat. They were thrilled to be able to contribute to the costs of keeping a bilby in care before its release into the wild.
SUCCESSFUL campaign to support save the bilby fund
Volunteers from wildlife rescue organisations all over Australia work tirelessly to care for sick, injured and orphaned animals, 24 hours per day, every day of the year.
Young orphaned marsupials ~ like Maggie, this adorable wombat joey ~ are kept warm and safe in fabric pouches until they are old enough to live independently.
Wildlife carers need a constant supply so please continue to support our pouches for joeys project!

Green Heroes launched the 'Wild for Life' workshop and activity program at the Gecko Wildlife Expo at Currumbin Sanctuary.
During the interactive Wildlife First Aid workshop, participants learned important rescue tips and made an emergency rescue box to keep in the car in case of wildlife emergencies. After designing a poster to promote the work of a local wildlife rescue organisation they were well on the way to earning their Wild Defenders Wildlife Rescue badge.
Wild for Life workshops can be delivered to pre-schools/schools and at community events. To enquire about a booking contact: firstname.lastname@example.org

A huge thankyou to Tugun Community Bank Branch for supporting Green Heroes environmental education through your community grants. This month the bank sponsored two native bee hives for local preschools. In collaboration with Dr Tobias Smith from Bee Aware Kids, we now have some very proud and diligent new little bee keepers in our community!
'Dr To-bee' does a brilliant job with helping children understand the interconnectedness of living things and the important role that bees play.

Celebrating almost 2000 pouches for wildlife since the Green Heroes Pouches for Joeys project began in 2018. Our most recent Sewing Bee was hosted at Somerset College on 11th May at Koala House. We thank lindsey clayton and all our new friends for coming along to a fun morning of tea and biscuits mixed in with some cutting and sewing. A great effort with 84 pouches completed in two hours! A special thank you from a little bandicoot who was one of the first to benefit from a warm snuggly pouch.

Led by teacher Theresa Grogan, Grade four students dedicated their class time to sewing and personalising 34 flannelette pouches for orphaned native koalas and kangaroos. The students took great care in making these and are so proud to be able to contribute to native wildlife care in this way. Here at Green Heroes We are also so proud of these beautiful children. Thank you. These pouches will be dispatched to local carers who are in desperate need of extra pouches at this busy time of year.
